Telemedicine for Back & Neck Pain

NOW OFFERING TELEMEDICINE

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting patients and healthcare providers in dramatic ways. Right now, the worst place for a person to go with back or neck pain symptoms may be the emergency room as hospitals fill up with COVID-19 patients. Even leaving your home for treatment may unnecessarily expose you to the virus.

We understand that back and neck pain do not suddenly disappear during this time and people still need treatment for symptoms. Consequently, we’ve implemented Telemedicine in our practice so those with back and neck pain can receive quality spine care from the safety of their home.

We realize that there are many unknowns related to Telemedicine, so we’ve developed a list answers to common questions:

Telemedicine is a way for healthcare providers to treat patients virtually through video conferencing, with no need for the patient to visit the office in person.

We can assess back and neck pain symptoms, provide an accurate diagnosis, determine if any symptoms require emergent or urgent care and provide treatment recommendations for most back and neck issues, including: Muscle strains; Herniated Discs; Arthritis or Degeneration; Acute injuries.

We are able to review MRI, X-ray or other imaging your may already have. This includes new referrals as well as second opinions.

Yes, in our practice ALL Telemedicine appointments are conducted by Dr. Sanjay Jatana, a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon specializing in cervical spine care. New patient consults are typically 30 – 45 minutes of face-to-face video conferencing with Dr. Jatana.

For patients with insurance, the typical co-pay for a Telemedicine visit is between $20 – $60, depending on the insurance provider. During this COVID-19 outbreak however, many insurance providers are waiving the co-pay altogether. Please contact your insurance provider regarding coverage of telemedicine.

Please note: We do not accept Medicaid at this time.

No software is required. We currently offer video conferencing appointments using HippoHealth, Zoom, or simply using an iPhone’s FaceTime app.
