DENVER’S TOP SPINE SURGEONS FORM NEW PRACTICE
Jul 09, 2012
DENVER, July 9, 2012 — Three of the region’s top spine surgeons are joining forces to provide patient-centered care with a focus on conservative surgical treatment and minimally invasive techniques. The newly formed practice, known as Denver Spine Surgeons, includes Dr. David Wong, Dr. Sanjay Jatana, and Dr. Gary Ghiselli.
The three were formerly partners in Denver Spine. The new name reflects a shift from a multidisciplinary approach to focus primarily on spine surgery. Each practice member is a board-certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon and an expert at treating a variety of neck and back conditions.
With more than 30 years of experience in orthopedics, Dr. David Wong specializes in lumbar microsurgery. He is director of the Advanced Center for Spinal Microsurgery at Presbyterian St. Luke Medical Center and an assistant clinical professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Colorado. He also served as president of the North American Spine Society, president of the Colorado Orthopedic Society and chairman of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Patient Safety Committee. Dr. Wong is one of the few practitioners in the country who has the training to perform a microsurgical lumbar laminoplasty, a less invasive technique for decompressing pinched nerves in the lumbar spine.
Dr. Sanjay Jatana focuses on general spinal surgery and has a special interest and training in the cervical spine (neck). He also specializes in treating patients who require repeat or revision surgery. He has been performing spine surgeries for 20 years and also served as an assistant clinical professor at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Jatana is medical director of the Rose Spine Institute at Rose Medical Center, a leading center for spine surgery in Colorado.
Specializing in cervical, thoracic and lumbar surgery, Dr. Gary Ghiselli is well published and is involved in clinical trials on new techniques in spine surgery. Dr. Ghiselli is a member of the North American Spine Society, American Medical Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Cervical Spine Research Society.
Denver Spine Surgeons is located at 7800 E. Orchard Rd., Suite 100, in Greenwood Village. The practice also has a special interest in workers compensation. Members have served on the Colorado Division of Labor Workers Compensation Spine Treatment Guidelines Workgroup and Pinnacol Insurance Task Forces on Disc Arthroplasty and Neuromonitoring.
